A new benchmark in contemporary student living.
A terrace of seven elegant town houses that provide homes to 84 students each year who can experience this aspirational yet socially and environmentally responsible student living
From the moment you walk up to the front door, you’ll know you’ve arrived somewhere special. Graystacks has been created specifically for students – a design-led yet homely environment in a canal side location. Quite simply, Nottingham’s best student accommodation.
Whether you choose a Canal view or a Boulevard view, the accommodation will give you all of the security of halls but with the independence of a house. Suitable if you are looking for accommodation by yourself or in a group of up to twelve, Graystacks is your ideal home.
The concept
Rooms are stacked around a naturally lit staircore.
A solid front door announces each Stack to the Boulevard. The set back from the pavement provides a small semi private area for secure storage of cycles, overlooked from the full height windows to the kitchens. The front door opens into the spacious hallway, with views through to the living areas and up to the top lit staircase.
Secure accommodation with card-controlled access for the front door, communal spaces and private study bedrooms.
The kitchen is positioned at the front of the townhouse, overlooking the front door and the Boulevard.
A superb canal side location – all living rooms open out onto the waterfront, with south facing terraces providing the perfect vantage point to watch the activity on the water.
Generously proportioned staircases, flooded with daylight from the roof glazing.
Stacks 4–7 enjoy a stepped section, with increased ceiling heights over the living area to the south.
South facing study rooms overlooking the canal include a balcony; Study rooms overlooking Castle Boulevard enjoy views to the historic Park Estate.
The shower room is a step away from your room, shared with just one neighbour.
Each Stack has its own laundry facility, located away from the kitchen so there's no disturbance to the living spaces.
Carefully designed Graystacks provides places to be together and places to be alone.
- The lounge area with its large and comfortable sofas is the perfect place to relax, chat or watch TV
- The roof terrace, directly accessible from Stacks 4–7 is a great place to socialise with the neighbours
- The dining space, with its café styling, can act as a space for group study as well as being large enough to accommodate the whole house at dinner
- Doors to bedrooms can be left open without compromising fire safety allowing students to welcome their neighbours into their rooms when they are feeling sociable. A shut door gives the message that it's time for privacy.
Rooms
Room type one
Minimum 10 sq m room, incorporating a small double bed, study area, seating, generous and practical storage and even a dressing table space. Contemporary fixtures and fittings add to the overall quality and appeal of the accommodation.
Room type two
Stacks 4 & 5 include a hotel-style bed arrangement, whilst still providing spaces for studying, storage and dressing. Our award-winning designers have carefully selected the interior finishes bringing their experience from the hotel sector to student living.
Communal space
All living rooms open out onto the waterfront, with south facing terraces providing the perfect vantage point to watch the activity on the canal. Stacks 4–7 enjoy living spaces with increased ceiling heights, with views through to the top-lit staircase.
With room for everyone in the house to gather in the living area for the big match or a film, there’s also space for everyone to sit around the table and enjoy a meal together on those special occasions. And, on the off chance that you want to invite the neighbours around for a less formal social, the furniture can be moved to one side.
The kitchens are neat and practical with generous storage, cooking areas and refrigeration. Incorporating a dishwasher, the clean lines of the units should be clean throughout the day. A breakfast bar overlooks the entrance door and provides a perfect perch for a morning coffee before heading off for the day.
